Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God.  Through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world.  The only means of being cleansed from sin is through faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned  (Romans 5:12)

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God  (Romans 3:23)

What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one  (Romans 3:9-10)

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  (1 John 3:8)

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.  (Galatians 3:13-14)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God   (Ephesians 2:8)

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.  (2 Corinthians 7:10)

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  (1 John 5:12)

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  (John 3:3-5)

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost  (Titus 3:5)

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels  (Matthew 25:41)

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
(Revelation 20:15)
