Blessings to you and your family from those of us in the family of Jesus and Duane Sheriff Ministries!

From Pastor Duane Sheriff

Our family always enjoys this season since it gives us a chance to send you our love and wishes from the heart for a Christmas blessed beyond measure. The birth of Jesus is certainly a reason to celebrate this special season with thankfulness and a spirit of joy.  But, what’s really on my heart this Holy Season is another birth – the NEW BIRTH that we have because of this Jesus born in Bethlehem.  His birth leads to our NEW BIRTH.

This year, my personal Christmas prayer for the body of Christ is to get a revelation of what it really means to be BORN AGAIN. I am convinced many believers are missing out on this life-changing revelation and need to be stirred in their hearts like Nicodemus, the Pharisee who looked for Jesus in the middle of the night to get some answers about His ministry and miracles. Jesus had the answer:

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”  (John 3:5)  It means that the things of God cannot be understood or seen except spiritually and that’s why it will never make sense to the world. But, as born again believers we can “see” the things of the Kingdom and discern what is going on in the world around us. We are the children of God with the gift of eternal life by the right of the new birth.  Now that’s something to celebrate!

Our prayer is that your heart bursts with thankfulness and joy as you celebrate the birth of Jesus --  and your NEW BIRTH in Him.  As a born-again believer filled with the Spirit of God, you can enter the New Year with confidence and assurance that you will “see” the things of the Kingdom as never before.  That’s not my promise – it’s His!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours.  We love you and appreciate you.

The Brotherhood

The men's ministry at Victory Life is named "The Brotherhood," and they take the name from 1 Peter 2:17. They meet every third Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. in the Victory Life Academy cafeteria where they share breakfast, singing, fellowship and encouragement. Their vision is to provoke each other unto love and good works, touching the community, the state and the nation for the glory of God. To that end, they work as teams on community projects to assist the elderly and those with physical impairments.

The Brotherhood is also connected ministerially with an international disaster recovery outreach that allows them to work in areas affected by natural disasters. They use their talents, skills and abilities to make a difference in the kingdom. Men and boys of all ages are welcome to be a part of this vibrant ministry outreach. For information about "The Brotherhood," please contact John Verrill at (580) 283-2998 or Tim MacEntire at (580) 924-9378 or email them at volunteer@dsheriff.org and put “Brotherhood” in the Subject line. Visit the 'What's Happening' link on this web site for scheduled events.

A Christmas Story?

While this is not what we might usually think of as a Christmas story, it is one we pray will touch your heart as it has touched ours...

In a beautiful, lilting accent, Beatrice O. shared how she came to Durant, Oklahoma to “bless back” Duane Sheriff Ministries. For several weeks, she has been volunteering at our Food Bank in the mornings and at Zoe Life Outreach in the afternoons. Beatrice will soon be returning to her home in Eldoŕet, Kenya, where she cares for ten of her brothers and sisters.

When visiting a small church in Tyler, Texas in 2004, Beatrice was encouraged to listen to a Duane Sheriff tape. It was a turning point in her Christian walk. She was drawn into “deeper relations with Jesus.” Listening to Pastor Duane’s tapes answered so many of her questions. She says, “I was delivered from Satan and demons were broken off me. I had something to live for.”

Beatrice took tapes back to Kenya and “transformed families’ lives.” She says she orders all the tapes she can each week. She had been trying to return to the States and finally, God made a way.  She is squeezing in her trip to Durant between a friend’s wedding in Pennsylvania and a visit to friends in Chicago. Because of the generosity of a Victory Life family, who offered to share their home, Beatrice has been able to extend her visit by a few weeks.

While training for teacher education in 2006, she heard God’s call to “take care of those close to you.” The children needed parenting and she has been lovingly caring for them ever since. She is teaching them about God and preparing them for ministering.

They are all being equipped by Duane Sheriff Ministries. Her prayer is for her siblings “to be what they want be – not what the government wants them to be.”

Kenya is primarily a Christian nation, but lacking in true teachers of the Word. In her city, there are many “children of the streets” who are living without homes. It is her desire to reach out to them, as she continues to act as the guardian of her 10 brothers and sisters.

Note: An older sister cares for the children while she enjoys her trip to the USA.

If this story has touched your heart, pray for Beatrice as God reminds

you of her daily struggles to follow after God and to do that which He

has called her.
